Review :
I bought this lovely peasant shirt for my high-school aged daughter, who was crazy about the photo online. It's the latest in fashion at her school, which shows that all fashions come back to haunt you, as I wore a similar shirt in my high school yearbook photo. When the package arrived from Amazon, the recipient wailed that it needed to go back *right away!* as the color was nothing like that online! (we bought the brown shirt as in the photo).
Fortunately, calmer heads opened the plastic bag that held the shirt. The color is not quite that shown on my monitor, but is a lovely chocolately brown. It is incredibly flattering against blonde hair, and the peasant style is as pretty as it was, ahem, thirty-ish years ago. The shirt seems to run large, as a women's medium was very generously sized on a size 8 frame. very generous. The fabric is a normal cotton sheeting, and has rows of elasticized smocking at the neck, sleeves and waistline.
And there is the only gripe I have with the shirt at all: The waistline smocking moves itself to the wearer's natural waistline. And the problem with that, you say? Well, high-school aged young women wear low rise jeans, and a shirt that moves to the wearer's natural waistline leaves a rather odd gap between the waistband of the jeans and the bottom of the shirt. 'nuff said. Dear Daughter will wear the shirt with some older jeans that she owns.
